ICYF President H.E. Taha Ayhan and ICYF Secretariat had an online meeting with the UNGA President H.E. Volkan Bozkir. The meeting held online due to the deadly pandemic covered many issues like the post-pandemic life, the spike in Islamophobia, hate speech,hate-related crimes in Europe as well as women entrepreneurs and problems affecting the youth.
Ambassador Bozkir reminded us that the youths are the future of the world and said the United Nations Economic and Social Council has the potential to achieve great success with its partnership with ICYF. The ambassador went on to further comment that any support given to the youth would move the world farther ahead. The ambassador concluded his speech with the following remarks “I am following ICYF’s work. The fact that it brings together young people in the Muslim world and produces projects is the key to many things. Unfortunately, we see that anti-Islamism has started to increase rapidly, especially in Europe. The Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum is an important force in combating this. I believe that the best way to combat Islamophobia will be to work in the fields of science, economics, art, and sports. ICYF needs to work with the United Nations Economic and Social Council in this regard.” His Excellency President Ayhan Taha agreed and supported the ambassador’s wonderful message with these remarks “ICYF is the only organization that works for the Muslim youth in all regions covered by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. We run hundreds of projects in many countries. With the help of Ambassador Bozkir we will carry out more projects with the member countries of the UN Economic and Social Council, and we will be a member of the UN Economic and Social Council in the coming period.”
