ICYF International Media Training Camp

On 4-16 June 2022, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Türkiye and Anadolu Agency, the ICYF organized the “ICYF International Media Training Camp” to expose OIC youth to learn about journalism, digital and social media issues. The camp was to empower young journalists and help them understand and evaluate the digital media reliability and further promote youth media participation in diverse communities.  The camp also focused on building youth’s understanding to evaluate the reliability of journalistic craft.

ICYF Delegation Led by H.E. Taha Ayhan participated in OIC-IUIU Cultural Event in Uganda

The ICYF delegation headed by H.E. Taha Ayhan, participated in the OIC-IUIU Cultural Event under the theme “Culture, Education, and Development: Experiences from the Muslim World” on 11-12 June 2022, in Kampala, Republic of Uganda.

The said cultural event co-hosted by the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) saw the participation of Government Officials, the Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs of the OIC, the Permanent Representative of the KSA to the OIC, heads of OIC institutions, political leaders, high-level diplomats, academicians, religious leaders, and local community leaders.

The two-day cultural event aimed at promoting cultural rapprochement by building bridges of understanding with other cultures and civilizations among the Muslim communities. The illustrious festivities involved various activities ranging from an official opening ceremony, gala dinner, exhibitions, cultural performances, cuisine, Quran and Adhan recitation competition, lectures, poem recitation, and sports activities to displaying artifacts, traditional cloths and calligraphy.

On the same occasion, the ICYF was given an exhibition stand to showcase its different projects empowering youth to several distinguished guests, participants, and students.

Africa MOIC Diplomacy Conference

On 30 May 2022, the ICYF organized Africa MOIC Diplomacy Conference in a webinar format. The Conference aimed to create an experience-sharing platform where young diplomats of ICYF shared their experiences and suggestions with young African leaders. Africa MOIC Diplomacy Conference is held in French and more than 200 African youth has actively participated in the program.

ICYF is at this year’s TEKNOFEST event in Azerbaijan. ICYF President H.E. Taha Ayhan took a glimpse of International Incubation Center’s stand at the Take Off Startup Summit which is a part of TEKNOFEST in Baku, Azerbaijan. IIC held 25 bilateral meetings with startups, investors and institutions whom they may have potential cooperation and joint projects in the future. A total 50 startups pitched their innovative solutions yesterday. Today the summit started with the announcement of 25 semifinalist startups who competed on the main stage during the Summit.

Winners of the Holy Qur’an Recitation Competition

We are glad to announce the names of the winners of the Holy Qur’an Recitation Competition, which took place in Kazan under the Kazan OIC Youth Capital 2022 in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, ICYF, the Academy of Youth Diplomacy, Tatarstan Republican Youth Public Foundation “SELET” and the Muslim Board of the Republic of Tatarstan from the 17th to 20th of May 2022 with the support of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The contest brought together 50 participants from more than 20 countries in Eurasia and Africa aged 18 to 30 years.

The jury selected the three best Quran reciters from both the men’s and women’s categories.

Here are the winners:

🥇Men’s Category:

1st place Musa Gaytiyev (Chechnya, Russia)

2nd place Mahmoud Khaled Mahmoud Sweid (Egypt)

3rd place Hamad Abdullah T.A. Aljumaily (Qatar)

🥇Women’s Category:

1st place: Dewi Yukha Nidha (Indonesia)

2nd place: Israa Mohammed Esam Salah (Palestine)

3rd place: Halima Abdinasir Ahmed (Great Britain)

The winners were awarded their prizes by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, with the 2nd and 3rd place winners receiving digital devices.

Chafa’atou Issoufou Mahamadou from Niger scooped the special prize.

3rd International Model OIC High School Summit

On 6-9 May 2022, the ICYF and Beyoğlu Education and Culture Foundation (BEKV) launched the 3^rd International Model OIC High School Summit in Istanbul under the theme of “Establishing Global Peace for a Fairer World”. The high school students from 56 Member States and Muslim minorities from the non-OIC member states participated in the summit that comprised the sessions of 4 committees; Al-Quds Committee, Standing Committee for Information and Cultural Affairs (COMIAC), Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers (ICYSM), and Islamic Conference of Environment Ministers (ICEM) ended with an outcome of resolutions.

The Community Development Programme in Africa

In April 2022, while the Muslim holy month of Ramadan was celebrated worldwide, the ICYF dedicated several missions to some African countries in cooperation with the ICYF Senegal, Cote D’Ivoire, and Burkina Faso Members to achieve the principle of solidarity and mercy. The ICYF and its member organizations set up Ramadan iftar tents in villages, mosques, and universities to reach different communities. The community development program aimed at empowering the capacities of the Member Organization`s building in the field of humanitarian aid and community work.

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Program: Ongoing

In April 2022, the ICYF organized “Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Program” under ICYF International Incubation Centre (IIC). RPA is automation software with artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities that simulates humans’ actions in the digital environments and independently from any other platform works periodically within certain rules. This program was dedicated to the OIC youth to gain knowledge and experience for nishe fields for their future endeavors.

2022 ECOSOC Youth Forum “Youth Hold the Key to Green Future: Initiatives and Practices in the OIC Region

On 8 April 2022, the ICYF organized a side event in the light of the 2022 ECOSOC Youth Forum. This forum served as a global communication platform on the youth and policymakers to converse on sustainable solutions needed for the challenges encountering the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The theme of the side event was “Youth hold the key to Green Future: Initiatives and Practices in the OIC Region”. The event aimed at discussing job opportunities in the green economy for the Youth of the OIC and sustainable ways to stimulate growth among other topics. It also intended to highlight a few initiatives and best practices from policymakers, international institutions, faith-based institutions, and the OIC youth in protecting the environment as well as the current position of environmental sustainability and prospects.

The 4th World Entrepreneurs Investment Forum (WEIF), supported by ICYF, was held at Dubai Expo 2020

ICYF was a partner of the 4th World Entrepreneurs Investment Forum (WEIF), an integral part of the Annual Investment Meeting between the 28th and 31st of March 2022

The event was held under the theme “Achieving the SDGs through Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Investment.”

As a partner of this massive event, ICYF announced a call for applications through its website and social media platforms. 342 applications from 72 countries were received. Following a thorough evaluation process, 9 startups from 7 countries (Turkey, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Northern Cyprus, Lebanon, Kazakhstan, and Malaysia) were chosen from different categories.

Mr. Sami Serdar, CEO of Young Business Hub, attended the event and took part as a panelist. During the three-day event, Mr. Serdar participated in high-level panel sessions, workshops, and bilateral meetings and networked with attendees showcasing ICYF’s youth economic empowerment and development projects.
