ICYF Diplomacy Academy

8 November 2019 – 3 January 2020, Istanbul

Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) launches ICYF Diplomacy Academy which offers 9 weeks of academic seminars as well as training courses for local and international students studying in Istanbul.

During these 9 weeks, interactive issues in international relations, social and intercultural hot topics, foreign policy strategies and important issues related to international relations will be discussed.

The Academy gathers official representatives from governmental and non-governmental organizations, diplomats, politicians, university representatives, journalists and academicians to deliver courses in the best possible way for the students.

The Academy will be held every Friday from 8th November to 3rd January and at the end of the Academy, all the participants regularly attending the course will be awarded with Certificate of Participation.

The Objectives:

Participants are expected to attend the conferences and discussions regularly (at least 6/9 of the conferences and discussions). Also each student are expected to write a brief 800-word article during the academy. Articles will be about the topics discussed in the conferences; participants are free to problematize one topic and giving solutions accordingly in their papers.

The students who attend conferences and discussions regularly will receive the Certificate of Participation. Among them, students who sent articles and actively joined the discussions will then join the International Diplomacy Academy and MOIC clubs. Also, participants with best 3 papers will have a direct opportunity to join the next MOIC and they will be rewarded by the International Diplomacy Academy team.

Admission criteria:

  • To be a student in Istanbul
  • To be a 3rd- 4th grade undergraduate or graduate student
  • To be fluent in English
  • Studying political science, international relations, economics, sociology, or other related areas of social sciences
  • Having a genuine interest on foreign policy issues
  • To be able to regularly attend all of the courses
  • To be able to actively join future ICYF political debates and discussions

  • 29th November: Islam and Diplomacy / The Diplomatic History of OIC Member States
  • 6th December: Cultural Diplomacy
  • 13th December: Conflict Resolution and Peacemaking Through Movie Discussion
  • 15th December: Deadline for proposals
  • 20th December: Diplomacy in Intragovernmental Institutions
  • 27th December: Career Opportunities in International Organizations and Diplomatic Mission
  • 3rd January: The Rise of Green Diplomacy
  • 5th January: Deadline for Articles
  • 10th January: Certificate & Award Ceremony

Application: The duration of the applications is 24th October – 3rd November.
